



In a Bible study I’ve been participating in, we recently discussed one of the passages of Scripture that teaches us to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. I allow the (perceived) awkwardness in a situation and perhaps a dose of my own introvertedness to keep me from being polite, to keep me from striking up a conversation, to keep me from acknowledging other human beings in my presence.Īnd I’m not sure that’s what God wants from me. Completely ignoring each other.Īt first I was thinking how sad it was that they stand there together every day and probably don’t ever speak (obviously an assumption, but possibly true), but then I remembered that I used to do the exact same thing when I was younger. They were at least four feet apart from each other, each with their heads facing down at the ground, shuffling their boots across the snow-covered ground. This morning as I was driving home after dropping my son off at school, I passed two kids on the sidewalk waiting for the bus - a boy and a girl who looked to be around nine years old.
